To many people Ted Simon sort of the founder of motorcycle travel and an idol. Though he wasn’t the first either, of course. He did travel around the world by motorcycle a long time ago, faced with some quite different challenges than those we face traveling today’s world. And he wrote an excellent book about it: Jupiters Travels. He later published another to tell all the stories he hadn’t dared put in the first one lest it got too big and no-one would read it.
He has actually published several books, all of which make for fantastic and somewhat retro reading. I am looking forward to reading them again, when I get home from our travels. He has also started the Ted Simon Foundation to “eencourage adventurers to go the extra mile and be reporters of truth in the world.“
