I’m a Deliveroo!!!

I finally found a job too ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m a Deliveroo! Of course I really wanted to be a postie. They are allowed to ride those little red postie bikes all over the curb and pavement to stuff the mail directly from the saddle bags into the letter boxes. Braaapp!!!

But to be a postie you need a local drivers license (for insurance purposes, etc. etc…). So this job is the next best thing! I get paid to ride Lea all over the city. Yay! It’s perfect ๐Ÿ™‚

So Lea and I went to see the awesome and happily chatty mechanic Eric to have the roo box fitted. Nothing too fancy, but it’s sexily functional and I can easily take it off when I don’t need it.

Deliveroo first started in London and is now spreading all over the globe. They deliver food for restaurants that don’t have their own riders. For us riders that means waiting in our zone. When a delivery come through on the phone app, we fetch it from the restaurant and deliver it to the hungry customer ๐Ÿ™‚

And since Deliveroo only just started in Sydney and Melbourne, some shift can be pretty slow with few orders. Doesn’t matter though, as we get pretty decent hourly rates on top of a per-delivery rate. So we get paid to sit around the park reading our favourite book, plying games or whatever while we wait.

As a roo-rider you are self-employed, riding your own bike. So all the insurance stuff is different andย  am allowed to ride on my foreign drivers license. Perfect. Been doing this now for several weeks and its the perfect way to make some cash if you’re a traveler ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, and did I mention it’s amazingly perfect?

And by the way, if you’re reading this and thinking you’ll apply to ride in Sydney or Melbourne, (Cyclist or Motorbike) mention me as your referrer (Maria Schumacher). Once you’ve done your 20th hour of riding, I’ll get a massive bonus for the referral. Of course I’m happy to share that with you. Just get in touch. I’m happy to answer all your questions, too. And then you can do the same referring people you know…
